Upon graduating from ROTC, what other training will I have to go through before becoming a MP officer?
Also, does anyone know the likelihood these days of going active or reserve after graduating from college? What’s the competition like? I am a fairly decent cadet, PT score is 299, leadership training is an overall high S, but my GPA is about a 2.7
Following graduation and commissioning, all new Officers attend their respective branch Officer Basic Course (OBC), now called Basic Officers Leaders Course (BOLC).
They then may attend a skill school, such as Airborne or Air Assault.
Officers do not attend Basic Training (unless they were prior Service and attended it that way or they enlisted to go to OCS). Nor do Officers attend AIT.
I can not comment on your chances of active duty verses reserve selection, as the needs of the Army change yearly.

Hello Christine,
Likelihood? No CERTAINTY! IF you graduate from college and IF you pass ROTC you will be commissioned and serve on active duty in the Army.
IF you get selected to become an Army Military Police officer you will go to an Officer’s technical school

for a certain number of weeks to be trained as a Military Police officer. Field 31.
However, I advise you to study your college courses more intensely. My GPA was 3.3571 and I "only" had 2 – "C"s. The rest of my grades were "A’s" and "Bs". So, hit the books harder, no party-hardy, and study on weekends, holidays, and summer time, too.
You need to be engaged in your college work for 18 hours a day – including weekends.
ROTC and military officership is very competitive. Get as lose to a 3.8 GPA as possible.
Best wishes,

Upon completion of ROTC and college graduation, I can say for certain that you will be commissioned and have orders waiting for you to report to active duty. At some point late in your junior year you will have to fill out a duty preference list. Depending on your GPA, class ranking and choice of duty and the needs of the service you will be assigned to active duty. You will be sent to the appropriate school for your billet and from there go to your duty station.

the only person that is right is MAJ Kev, after grad. and you commission you have to go to BOLC which is a type of basic for officers but without the screaming. the time you stay at BOLC depends on your branch im not sure about MP because im trying to branch MI. As far as your chances active duty it is pretty competitive and GPA is VERY important. they told me if you have a GPA of like 3.5 or higher you pretty much got active if your under like 3.1 you got problems. but you have a high PT score might wanna tip off and get that 300. You also need to do VERY well at LDAC and get a STRONG S or E and not just an S becuase you have to make up for the low GPA.
