C if you’re talking about public speaking, but they weren’t the first. According to research, CORAX is believed to have started the first courses in rhetoric (speaking) in response to disputes over land. Before Plato in the 5th century BC, the Sophists – itinerant teachers began teaching rhetoric in Athens. Their main competition was from Plato. However, they came before Plato and were still going while he was teaching.
