Noted crisis communication expert TJ Walker gives BP’s Tony Hayward a grade of F- for his handling of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Walker says that with no margin for error Hayward did not get out in front of this story and instead is allowing his lawyers to drive the messages that he is delivering.

I find it absolutely absurd but maybe I am just naive on the subject. If anyone cares to enlighten me I am all for it!
Do you think there is any merit in the idea that you can teach a VERY young baby to communicate to you that they need to poo or wee in the potty? I mean from 6 week old babies?
Is this even possible or is this just the parents ‘toilet timing’ THEMSELVES and NOT ‘toilet training’ a baby?
I also read the link about ‘kelly and imogen’, quite fascinating!!
Certainly an area I want to learn more about but definately not something I could see myself practicing.
I could not see it fitting with my lifestyle.
Thank you for bringing this up. The fact that you are starting a discussion on it show that perhaps you don’t find it as absurd as you think you do. In fact, many families who have gone on to practice Elimination Communication (EC) have started off finding it absurd when they first heard of it.
I have 6 children and I’ve practiced EC from birth with my youngest 3. I found it to be relatively easy to fit into our lives. You really aren’t *teaching* babies anything. Babies are born with the ability to communicate all their needs- hunger, sleepiness, and even when they need to pee or poo. It also isn’t *training*. It is an alternative to full-time diapering not a method of toilet training. Most parents who EC find that their kids have an easier time becoming toilet independent at an earlier age with EC than if their children had lost the awareness of needing to pee or poo by being full-time diapered.
You’re right, it is *not* toilet training a baby. If you want to think of it as training the parents, then okay, but it isn’t any more parent training than it is when parents respond to signs of hunger or sleepiness. To me, "training" means learning a helpful skill, so maybe think of it that way. The bottom line is that babies are small, helpless people who need to be responded to. We need to let go of the idea that they are controlling and manipulative and are *training* their parents.
