what questions do they ask at the John Lewis Management Training Assessment Centre ?

December 12, 2010 - 7:02 am 1 Comment

My daughter has been invited to an assessment centre, it would be helpful to know what questions they ask and what format the assessment centre takes.

I’m not surprised if they didn’t include some information in the invitation, however they will not give away what goes on at Management Training Assessment Centre. Since the whole point of an assessment centre is to see how candidates react to certain situations etc. as for questions they can ask anything, so my best advice is for your daughter to look on the John Lewis website and learn major points from their retail side to their corporate side.

The final thing I’m going to write is that I hope no one from John Lewis HR Department comes onto this site, since one your daughter hasn’t taken the intuitive at phoned them up and politely asked and secondly why isn’t your daughter coming onto this site and asking?

What is the main difference between short and long sprint training programs?

December 10, 2010 - 9:39 am 4 Comments

Short sprints: 100m and 200m
Long sprints: 400m
So has anyone got a handle on the biggest differences in training and how they might benefit each type of sprinter, as well as anything that might disadvantage the other type of sprinter.

The biggest difference is recuperation. A long sprinter is trying to develop sprint endurance, an ability to run fast or rather maintain speed when tiring or training not to get tired in the later stages of the race. To this end, while doing repeats, they will not recuperate fully so as to simulate race conditions. In a way the short sprinter is training to do the same but requires form and technique to do so. Thus the short sprinter will do shorter sprints, more intensely but recuperate fully (or as close to fully as possible) before doing the next repeat.

The short sprint training would benefit the long sprinter by helping them run faster and the long sprint training would help the short sprinter by giving them more endurance. The trick is balancing the training so the short sprinter reaches their short sprint potential (their best 100 and 200) and the long sprinter reaches their long sprint potential (their best 400).

Interior Design training programs in the United States ir Australia?

December 8, 2010 - 8:30 am 1 Comment

I’m a third year interior design student in the University of Bahrain. I have a training course next semester ( which is a three month program) and would like to apply in the United States( Washington D.C or Virginia is more preferable than other states) or in Australia …does anyone know a place that would except students to train for 3 months?

To answer your first question, a training study in the US is a better option.
Try and contact any of the Art Institutes and ask for a brochure (online). You may find one that has a ‘crash’ program in interior design or interior decoration. Also try to contact Limperts Academy for information. Just google these places.
Goodluck in your search and future endeavors.
Cheers

What can I incorporate into my CPR training business to create a second or additional income?

December 2, 2010 - 7:42 am 3 Comments

I teach CPR and First-Aid. I am looking for ideas on what I might be able to incorporate into my business to generate a second income or additional income along with my classes; another type of class I might be able to teach, or a product I might be able to sell. I appreciate your answers.

My company offers online CPR and First Aid training and certification. We are always looking for knowledgeable instructors who would like to earn extra income by becoming skill evaluators for us. This means that we would list you on our website and send our students your way to verify that they are able to perform the necessary hands-on skills before we certify them. You collect a fee from the student for this check-off, which usually takes less than 20 minutes since they have already learned the cognitive portion online.

We are also working on a more fully integrated system for instructors to teach our CPR / First Aid courses and make money through both classroom and online training. Let me know if you are interested and we would be happy to set up a phone call or webinar to talk more.
