What is the meaning of corporate training?

January 21, 2010 - 5:47 pm 1 Comment

Training targets behavior directly, and might indirectly influence thought processes. This typically calls for more than a lecture format. Training might start by specifying steps needed to accomplish a particular task, but more than this is needed to assure that certain skills or procedures are learned. Participants in a training course should practice the desired behavior and receive pertinent feedback to support what’s right and correct what’s wrong. If feedback is given genuinely in a trusting and caring atmosphere, behavior might not only be directly improved, but one’s thinking or attitude associated with the behavior might be positive.

Conversely, education focuses on trying to influence participants’ cognitive or thinking processes. This kind of education might increase profound knowledge or critical thinking skills, and this could lead to behavior change. If so, I will have "thought a person into behaving differently." In other words, education targets thought processes directly, and might indirectly influence what people do.

Which pharmacy technician training programs are board certified?

January 21, 2010 - 5:47 pm 1 Comment

Is there a website with a list of schools and programs to be a pharmacy technician that are board certified? I am particularly looking for somewhere in the Los Angeles, California area. If anyone can recommend a school or training program for a pharmacy tech that is very "legit" that would be greatly appreciated!

Please don’t waste your time and money doing any formal training to be a pharmacy technician. You can easily get a job in a drugstore, even with no experience. All you need is a HS diploma/GED and a clean criminal record. Anywhere "good" to work (hospital, mail-order) requires experience.

This is one of the few medical jobs where the amount of experience is by far more important than if you have formal training. I’ve worked at 2 different drugstores, and I have yet to meet a pharm tech that has been through formal training.

Can anyone suggest a very detailed and intensive training program for Microsoft Word and Excel?

Both would need to be relevant to a Mac. Mac training for beginners in general would also be great. I’m in New York City. Thanks!

Hi,

There’s a lot of free stuff out there, and paid trainers are available, too.

Word and Excel both started off as Macintosh applications. For the most part, except for the user interface, Microsoft kept the same features when they ported these to Windows. So if you do come across Windows training materials they are often applicable to the Mac, as well.

I’ve put some links below to help you get started.

What would you say to someone who wants to open a store, but has had no formal business training. And is 19?

January 21, 2010 - 5:47 pm 3 Comments

I didn’t go to school for business but I think I can do it.

I would say GO FOR IT! Hopefully you have a mentor that can help you take your idea and put it into a good business plan. Read books, news articles, etc that relate to what you are trying to do. You can keep learning even though you don’t have a business degree. If you lack a skill that you need to make your business grow, take just that course in college. Don’t give up your dreams for fear of failure.

Recreating SOME obstacles of boot camp training courses?

January 21, 2010 - 5:47 pm 1 Comment

This is mostly leaning toward service men & women who have been through this type of training. It may also be toward contrators that have built these courses. I am merely wanting to create a few obstacles on a small piece of land. Please note I am not looking to recreate the whole course maybe just three obstacles the most. I would appreciate some pictures/plans to build these or descriptions.
